The National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse has no legal authority to accept or intervene in reports of elder abuse. If you have a complaint about abuse, neglect, or exploitation of an elderly person or a vulnerable adult, please contact the Adult Protective Services (APS) agency where the person lives. To find the reporting number for a specific state, visit the website of the National Center on Elder Abuse and click on "State Resources: Helplines, Hotlines, and Information." You may also call the national ElderCare Locator toll-free at 1-800-677-1116 to get specific state numbers for reporting elder abuse.

If someone is in immediate danger, please call 911 or the local police for the fastest and most direct response.
